The Outeniqua Mountain Range is an imposing backdrop to a large section of the Garden Route. The name is believed to originate from a Khoikhoi tribe that once lived in the mountains and means ‘they who bear honey’. Outeniqua is one of a number of indigenous local geographical names, examples of others are Goukamma, Karatara and Tsitsikamma. Enjoy one of the many hiking or biking trails that traverse the famous natural landmarks.
